August 2004
The family of the late George L. extends their appreciation to the administration, the many medical doctors and medical specialists, and the many professional staff and employees at Laguna Honda for the excellent care and services provided to George during his years of stay at Laguna Honda.
Each of one hundred and more staff and employees contributed their skills, talents, and services and made a difference to George.
George developed a relationship with his doctors, especially Dr. Theresa Berta, Dr. Christian Lee and Dr. Monica Banchero. We are thankful for their kind, caring and professional services.
We visited George when he was temporarily at the University of California Medical Center and he was anxious to return to Laguna Honda. I learned how happy he was when he was back with his nurses and friends.
Whenever I spoke with George, he would say “Give my aloha to everyone.” The following statement by Pilahi Paki embraces George’s notion of “aloha,” and we offer it to the many employees responsible for his care at Laguna Honda.
A = Akahi, kindness, to be expressed with tenderness
L = Lokahi, unity, to be expressed with harmony
O = ‘Olu’olu, agreeable, to be expressed with pleasantness
H = Ha’aha’a, humility, to be expressed with modesty
A = Ahonui, patience, to be expressed with perseverance
We are arranging to bring George back to Hilo, Hawaii, his island home he left some 50 plus years ago.
Aloha,
The L. Family
