Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center is a therapeutic community providing skilled nursing and rehabilitation services to 780 seniors and adults with disabilities in San Francisco, California.

Laguna Honda’s person-centered approach promotes well-being and independence by integrating an award-winning nursing program with 24-hour medical care, a state-of-the-art rehabilitation center, therapeutic activities, nutritional counseling and social services that support individual needs and preferences.

Laguna Honda’s residents, along with their families and loved ones, are active participants in the decisions that affect their care.

Our attention to multiple and changing health needs assists residents to adapt to any ongoing challenges they may face, and to successfully integrate into the civic life of San Francisco.

Laguna Honda Wins Award for Systems Innovation from the CBORD Group, Inc.

Laguna Honda won the CBORD Group Visionary Award at the software company’s 2010 user group meeting in Orlando, Florida. The hospital was recognized for innovative and creative uses of CBORD nutrition and food services management software. CBORD company officers credited Laguna Honda with being a pioneer in systems integration that supports innovation in resident care. Laguna Honda and San Francisco General Hospital have been CBORD partners since 1987.

Federal Oversight Ends at Laguna Honda

The U.S. Department of Justice terminated its 15 year oversight of Laguna Honda in June 2011. In a letter to city officials, federal investigators acknowledged that San Francisco has "taken creative and somewhat extraordinary steps to expand residential and other service capacity in the community so as to provide meaningful alternatives in integrated settings for a host of persons who live, had lived, or might live” at Laguna Honda. ...
